Privacy policy
We ask for the least information that lets us help you, we never sell it, and you can ask us to delete it at any time.
Last updated: 2026. This policy explains how UK Gambling Help (“we”) handles personal data for https://ukgamblinghelp.co.uk, under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
What we collect
- Enquiries. If you use the contact form, email us or call, we hold your name, contact details and whatever you choose to tell us.
- Client records. If you go on to have sessions with us, we keep brief clinical notes, as UK professional practice requires.
- Server logs. Our host records standard technical data (IP address, browser type, pages requested, timestamps) for security and reliability.
What we do not collect
- Self-check answers. The self-check runs entirely in your browser. Answers are never transmitted to us and are never stored.
- Advertising or profiling cookies. We do not set them, and we do not sell, rent or share personal data with advertisers or data brokers.
- Special category data via forms. Please do not send detailed health information through the contact form; keep it for the call.
Cookies
This website sets no cookies of its own. We embed no advertising pixels, social widgets or third-party trackers. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address as part of serving the font file; if you would rather avoid that, the site is fully readable with fonts blocked.
If we later add analytics, we will use a privacy-respecting, cookie-free tool and say so here before it goes live.
Why we hold it, and on what basis
| Purpose | Lawful basis |
|---|---|
| Replying to your enquiry | Consent, and our legitimate interest in responding to you |
| Providing therapy and keeping notes | Contract, and Article 9(2)(h) for health data |
| Site security and fraud prevention | Legitimate interests |
| Meeting legal or regulatory duties | Legal obligation |
How long we keep it
- Enquiries that do not become clients: deleted within 12 months.
- Client records: retained in line with UK professional guidance, normally seven years after the last session.
- Server logs: normally 30 days.
Who sees it
Only the practitioner working with you, and the small team running the service. We use reputable UK or EU hosting and email providers acting as our processors under contract. We do not sell data, and we do not transfer it outside the UK or EEA without appropriate safeguards.
We break confidentiality only where the law requires or permits it: a serious and immediate risk to your life or someone else’s, a child or vulnerable adult at risk, or a court order. Wherever possible we tell you first.
Your rights
You may ask us to give you a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to our use of it, or withdraw consent at any time. Email hello@ukgamblinghelp.co.uk and we will respond within one month.
If you are unhappy with our response you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS with a strict content security policy. Access to records is limited to those who need it, and devices are encrypted. No system is perfect, and we will tell you and the ICO promptly if a breach ever affects your data.
Children
This service is for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data about under-18s. If you believe we hold data about a child, contact us and we will delete it.
